These attractive white towers with rounded balconies are in the Bosa Developments' group of buildings, which began in Calgary with the Liberte, went on to the Axxis tower, then to the Marquis and finally these Riverwest twins, called The Barclay (west tower, 2003) and The McLeod (east tower, 2004).

Bosa is a family-owned construction company originating in Vancouver where it built the multi-tower Citygate Condos along Main Street on False Creek. It has a reputation for good-quality condo buildings, often with concrete walls separating the suites, and built with some architectural flair. These towers share a lovely ground-floor common area that offers an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, gym and party room. There's indoor visitor parking plus some convenient short-term parking at the front door. The modern design allows lots of light into the pool area, into lobbies and even into suites, which enjoy curved window walls. All suites have at least one of the large curved balconies of 86 square feet, and two-bedroom suites each have two, while a few have three such balconies.

The west tower, The Barclay, was built first atop four levels of common-property assigned parking, and houses 105 suites within its 23 floors, although both buildings have peaked roofs that add two stories to their heights. On the 23rd floor two penthouse suites are set back within the building outline, allowing each to have three roof-top deck areas totalling 1,022 square feet, which is pretty amazing. The parkade is large enough to allow many suites to have two assigned parking stalls, and there are storage lockers.

The east tower, The McLeod, came second, sits atop three levels of common-property indoor parking, and because it's taller at 27 floors, it houses 124 suites, so the total number of homes at Riverwest is 229. The same suite layouts, balconies and penthouse suites with three roof decks apply as at The Barclay. In both buildings suites have open living areas and floor plans that are almost triangular as they widen toward the windows. Standards of finishing are high but not overdone, but the greatest luxury might be the concrete walls that separate every suite from its neighbours on both sides. Many suites enjoy views of downtown or west up the Bow River Valley and towards Kensington and the North Hill.

Exterior windows and doors at Riverwest are common property for maintenance and eventual replacement. I have on file all original marketing material and floor plans, plus the Condo Plan.
