Five very large terraced homes with independent entrances and two-car garages plus driveway parking make up this building on Cameron Avenue at 10A Street. I've never heard it referred to by a name, but if it has one that you know of, do tell. Construction is frame with brick highlight walls and sheet-copper cladding, similar to Mount Royal Terrace next door to the west. There are a variety of balconies on the sides and one atop the sloping roof.

Surprisingly, this is a condo conversion, built as a rental building in 1976 and surveyed for conversion in 1981. And quite a survey it is, with the smallest property measuring 2,476 sq. ft., although this includes the drive-under parking, and the largest property in the building measures 2,864 sq. ft. Even with double-car garages deducted these five homes all offer 2,000 or more square feet of living space. The building's layout is unique. Three of the homes start with the two-car garage and a small utility/den area, stairs up to the living area, then a spiral staircase to the bedrooms level. Exceptions are the two-level fourth suite and the sprawling single-level top-most suite, which has an added-on two-car garage 'round back built around 2002. That suite has a balcony that's more like a roof deck facing north, accessed from a living area that has the building's only vaulted ceiling. The suite was dated when I last viewed it in 2001, but I expect most of these suites have since been upgraded by new owners.

All five suites have independent heating, air conditioning and hot-water tanks. All suites offer two bedrooms and two or 2.5 bathrooms plus a stone-faced wood-burning fireplace with a natural-gas log lighter. Some of these will have been converted to gas-burning fireplaces, perhaps eliminating the stonework. The building is a conventional condominium, so each suite's interior is privately owned, with all five owning the building's structure, shell and the land, and maintain it all. Exterior windows and doors remain common property for maintenance and future replacement.
